Mumbai's west side has a new spine. The Coastal Road, paired with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the upcoming Versova-Bandra extension, is reshaping how the city moves north–south.

What's open

The first stretch from Marine Drive to Worli is live, with the under-sea tunnels carrying traffic past Malabar Hill. Travel time from Nariman Point to Worli has dropped to roughly 10–12 minutes off-peak.

What's coming

  • Worli–Bandra connector: bridges that tie the Coastal Road directly into the Sea Link.
  • Versova extension: pushing the corridor north into the western suburbs.
  • Promenades & cycling tracks: a public waterfront unlike anything Mumbai has had.

The bigger picture

Combined with Atal Setu on the east, the Coastal Road completes a circulatory loop around Mumbai — faster commutes, decongested arterials, and brand new public space along the sea.
