Mumbai's metro network is finally hitting its stride. Multiple lines are now operational, more are weeks away, and the long-awaited underground stretch is reshaping how the city moves.

What's running now
- Line 2A & Line 7 (Yellow & Red): Dahisar to Andheri belt fully active.
- Line 3 (Aqua): Underground stretch opened in phases — Aarey to BKC live, full BKC–Cuffe Parade coming soon.
- Line 1: The original Versova–Ghatkopar workhorse.
What's next
Line 8 (Gold) will connect CSMIA to NMIA — a true airport-to-airport metro. Extensions into Navi Mumbai and Thane are also under construction, with stations being finished through this year.
Why commuters care
For daily travellers, the metro is finally an alternative to the local train crush — air-conditioned, predictable, and frequent. As more interchanges open, end-to-end metro commutes across the city become realistic.
